The Train Trip

Chapter 3

Brooke eventually found her mother lurking in a corridor deep within the Manor, despite Brooke's hopeless act in finding her, as the Manor was just a little bit smaller than Hogwarts its self. Mrs. Malfoy had dragged her off to Diagon Alley, and they had retreieved everything they had needed. When Brooke had arrived back home, she found Draco and Theo awaiting her arrival. "Hurry, B, the train is about to departure!" Draco called to her. Theo had just got his license in driving, because he thought it proved useful if they ever encountered the muggle world, so he took up the responsibility of driving the only Hogwarts Students in the household there, including himself. Draco took the passenger seat, and Brooke sat in the middle back seat. "How old can you be to drive?" Brooke asked Theo. "Commonly, sixteen through eighteen." Mattheo said. "Could I learn to drive next year?" Brooke asked. "We'll see," Theo said through a chuckle. Brooke rolled her eyes. They had pulled up to the station a few minutes later. "Fifteen 'till eleven," Draco said, reading his watch. They all exited the car, and grabbed their school chests from the trunk. "What will happen to the car?" Brooke asked. "Someone from the Manor will summon it, that way no one would steal it," Theo answered, as if it were obvious. "Grab a trolley," Draco instructed Brooke. Brooke reached for three trolleys. Everyone put their chests and animals ontop of the trolley. "Watch and learn," Draco said. Then he took off towards the wall in between platforms 9 and 10. Brooke wasn't stupid. She pretty much had to watch Draco run into these walls year after year. Brooke ran next, and how easy it was! Theo came after her, and they all made their way onto the train. "Fifth years sit in the middle of the train. You'll find a bunch of compartments with the number 5 on it, and those are the ones you can sit in," Theo said, pointing the the back of the train. "Where are you guys going?" Brooke asked. "I'm sitting with seventh, and Draco's sitting with his stupid Slytherin friends," Theo said. "They aren't stupid! For the dozenth time!" Draco said. "'Dozenth' isn't a word, you moron," Brooke said, and gave him a good thump on the head. "Whatever," Draco muttered. Brooke rolled her eyes, and went towards the end of the train, until she saw the number 5. It wasn't that far a walk from where she entered the train. Every compartment was jam packed. The only one Brooke could fit in, was one with a bunch of Gryffindors. Despite the fact it said 5th Brooke slid the compartment door open. "Everywhere's full. Any chance I could fit in here?" Brooke asked. A boy, looking a tad bit older than fifteen, stood up, allowing Brooke to take his spot. The boy sat upon the floor, as there was no more room to sit. "I'm Harry," The boy said. "Harry Potter," He added. The Potter boy? All Brooke could think was why she was acting like he was the worst person in the universe. And why was he in the fifth year compartment? Wasn't he a sixth year? But other than these's thoughts, he was actually very kind. "I'm Hermione Granger," one of the girls said. "I'm Ronald Weasley," Another boy said. "I'm Ginny! Ron's sister!" Another girl said. Brooke was taken aback by the kindess of everybody. Brooke nodded, memorizing everyone's names. "I'm Brooklyn. Brooke, perferably. Brooke Malfoy," She finished. Everyone exchanged glances. "Malfoy's younger sister finally appears at Hogwarts," A voice said through the compartment door. The doors opened again, and by the looks of it, two red haired twins, looking far older than Brooke, entered the tight compartment. "How many red-heads are at this school?" Brooke asked suspiciously. "Used to be many. Not much now though," One of the twins said. "I'm Fred," The other twin said. "I'm George," The original twin said. "Ickle Ronnie-kins' older brothers," Fred said. "Shut up," Ron said. Brooke had found a liking to all these people. They seemed like a perfect mix of sarcasm and friendship. Half of her wanted to be Gryffindor now. "You're joining in fifth year, i heard it," George said. "So?" Brooke snapped back. "Ooh. Fifth year's got some backbone." Fred said. "That's cool! I'm a fifth year too!" Ginny said. "Then why is Harry here? I thought he was a sixth year?" Brooke asked. "We snuck down here so we could sit with Ginny," Hermione said, pointing to herself, Ron, and then Harry. Determined to change to subject, George started with a different topic. "Your stuck up, perfect, blonde boy brother, couldn't stop yapping on and on about you joining. He was a little overjoyed, if you ask me. Told literally anybody he saw," George said. "Doubt it," Brooke said. "You wouldn't know. Apparently, you were being homeschooled?" Harry asked, trying to change the topic. "Apparently so," Brooke said in a snarky tone. "Mother says homeschooling is more benifical to learning than what they teach at Hogwarts," Brooke added. "So if it's better to learn at home, what have you learned?" Ron asked. "Many things. I've learned basic cast, summoning charms, conjuration, damaging, and force," Brooke said. "Damaging?" Ginny asked. "You know. Confringo. Expelliarmus. Bombarda. Incendio. All the useful ones," Brooke said. "Now what about force spells?" Harry asked. "Expulso, Stupefy, Reducto, Diffindo. I was learning more, before Dumbledore requested that I come to Hogwarts. He about came to the Manor himself, and we obviously couldn't have that when Vo-," Brooke said, but stopped herself. "What?" Hermione asked. "When various things were happening at once," Brooke said. Some looked suspicious of her. "Keep going," Hermione said. "My next lesson was to learn some Dark Curses. Not anything bad, nessacarily. Not like I'd use it on anyone. I just started on Imperio. It's actually very useful during combat," Brooke said. "I'd love to learn Dark Magic. Just for the protection I would feel," Ginny said. Brooke nodded. The twins made their way to sit on the ground with Harry. Brooke felt apart of a big happy family. It actually warmed her heart. She would love to spend time with them at Hogwarts. Maybe Gryffindor was the house for me, she thought. "What are the house traits?" Brooke asked Hermione. "There's Gryffindor, for the brave and courgageous. Then Slytherin, for ambition and cunning. After if Hufflepuff, for kindness and peace-keepers. And lastly, Ravenclaw, for the intelligent and curious," Hermione answered. "Which one do you think I could get?" Brooke asked the group. "You're a Malfoy, so no doubt you'll be a slytherin. But you don't seem like a Slytherin at all," Hermione answered. "I'd say Gryffindor," Harry said. "I say Ravenclaw," Hermione said. "Slytherin," Ginny added. "I'm with Harry," Fred said. "Same,'' George added. "We'll just have to wait and see," Ron said. And with that, the train stopped at Hogmeade station. "Here we go," Brooke thought. "My life is just beginning,".
