The Hogwarts Daily

Happy Lunar New Year! Different people find different ways of celebrating the Lunar New Year. There are typically 15 days of Lunar New Year, with a special activity and meaning for each day. Today is the first day! Find out all about today with Elizabeth Wonders in Special Holidays.

News of the day

As the first day of the Lunar New Year, it is traditional you spend it with friends and family. Students at Hogwarts complain about the lack of interest the school shows this event and many have been strongly asking the Hogwarts Board of Governors to add a holiday of at least two weeks to the Lunar New Year. "That would be too much holiday," said a Governor who wishes to not be named, "First you have Christmas, then the normal New Year. If you add the holidays for Lunar New Year as well don't expect an Easter break."

Something the Hogwarts Board of Governors are willing to do is set off some fireworks above the Great Lake tonight at 10 PM. However, they seem to fail to notice about the curfew at Hogwarts for the younger students. "It is so unfair we don't get to watch [the fireworks]." A first year said, "We have to go to bed at 9 PM."

Special Holidays

First day of the Lunar New Year! What do we do on this particular day? Only one, really important thing, drumroll please...

SPEND TIME WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY! (Well, mostly your family and relatives.)

Do you already spend time with them a lot? Here are things to make your visits of the day special:

  • Wear colourfully

  • Gift red envelopes to the young and old, or all (depending on your family traditions)

  • Or if you are the young or old, expect money in the red envelopes! (again, depending on your traditions)

  • Be happy - not gloomy

  • Prepare yourself for eating around ten thousand meals that day (depending on your traditions)

  • Remember - if it is too cold, don't go out. Health is the most important. Technology is thriving these days, you can simply video-chat with your friends and relatives.

  • Have a large bowl of sweets, candies and chocolate for anyone who knocks on your door

With those things in mind, go visit your loved ones right now!
