lethe river water

  • named after lethe river in greek mythology

    • those who died drank the water to forget about their past lives

  • actually, it comes from the Kaybetti river in the town of Oren (Turkey)

  • acts as powerful memory suppresent

  • when consumed at high dosage, might make the body's organ systems forget how to function leading to coma or death

  • molecularly appears to be same to regular water

  • water lacks any fungi or bacteria that might explain the characteristics

  • one of the clearest rivers in the world

  • two theories as to how it became a memory suppressent:

    • a very powerful witch/wizard charmed the very source of the river

      • it is possible it involved some permanent charm restructuring the particles at the river's source

    • some sort of magical fungus or plant lives at the source

      • water passes over it--> gets imbued with forgetfulness magic

      • as it comes down, all the traces of the plant is removed

      • does not change structure, but is just a residue

  • no one has ever reached the source of the river

  • some beings may have, but the powerful forgetfulness magic has wiped their memory
