Charlotte

While Charles and Hellen left for the horses, I stayed to help Edmund cross. First of all, Edmund really didn’t want to leave the poor horse that we brought here so on his way over he attempted to drag a horse beside him. Surprisingly, Edmund got the horse over by having me pull a rope that was attached to the horse, but there was one problem. Edmund was still on the other side.

It had been about two hours when I saw Hellen and Charles with two horses come back. Edmund was still trying to figure out a way over without breaking any bones. Edmund’s eyes lit up. He walked back at least twenty feet from the river and began bolting towards it.  

“Edmund, NO!” practically everyone on the other side yelled. Edmund had surprisingly made it most of the way without falling. He was almost to the other side when he slipped and fell landing on his back. He sat up and his hand instantly went to his foot. His eyes were filled with terror, but he stayed silent. 

“I think—I think it's broken!” Edmund said in no more a whisper, but still loud enough for the three of us to hear. Hellen helped him up; he wasn’t using his right foot for he had “broken” it. Hellen had him sit down on a rock while she got the med kit from Edmund's bag. She removed Edmund’s boot to reveal a bruised foot. She started feeling his ankle to try and find a break. 

“It’s only sprained, Edmund. You’ll live.” Hellen wrapped his foot in some newspaper putting another stick at his ankle. I got up on a horse and so did Edmund. This left Charles and Hellen sharing one. We began our journey back to New Haven.
