Chapter 1

Mattheo

It had been another long and tedious day of class and bullshit- I walked into our common room in the Slytherin dungeons, immediately being annoyed by the few people who sat around. Blaise, Theo, Enzo, and Draco sat on the dark leather couches and chairs. They all looked up as I entered the room, and Blaise spoke up first "Where the hell were you all day?"

The last thing I wanted was to talk to them. I walked through the common room, making a mental note to stop at the kitchen later. I pushed open my bedroom door, shutting it behind me and flopping down on my bed with a sigh, pulling out my pack of cigarettes and lighting one, my eyes closing as the nicotine entered my system.

I took a long drag, the smoke swirling around me as I exhaled. I lay there in the silence for a moment, my mind wandering to the girl who’d come to continuously invade my thoughts lately. God I hated her. With that annoying pretty face and fiery attitude. Just then, I heard a knock on my door. Whoever the hell it was, I prayed they’d leave me alone if I ignored them. I took another drag from my cigarette, hoping the knocking would stop. I took another long drag of the cigarette, the bitterness of the smoke filling my lungs.

I leaned my head back against the headboard, letting out a sigh. It had been a long goddamn day; too many classes, too many people, and too much bullshit. I took a deep drag, letting the smoke sit in my lungs for a few long moments before exhaling, watching as the smoke dispersed in the air. The stress of the day began to fade away, replaced by the familiar feeling of calm. I let my eyes flutter shut, taking another drag from the cigarette. Hearing the door open I didn’t have to look up to know who it was.

Of course she would come to annoy me. I hear her footsteps approach, the sound of her steps familiar to me, as I’ve had to hear them many times before, usually when she’s around me. The footsteps stopped right in front of my bed, and a few seconds later I heard her speak, and I internally groaned.

"You know smoking's bad for you right?" She says. I open my eyes and look up at her, my eyes tired. I take another drag from my cigarette, then exhale the smoke in her direction

”What I do with my body is my business. Why are you in here anyway?”

"I came to get my transfiguration book"She say's. I scoff and look back at the ceiling, taking another drag from my cigarette, the smoke circling around me. I hear her footsteps walking, clearly her searching for something

”And you just happen to remember that you left it right here? In my bedroom? How convenient”

"Hey not my fault Theo takes my shit"

I resist the urge to smile a bit, and look at her, an amused expression on my face as she looks around my room for her transfiguration book, ”Sure. Blame Nott. And you still haven’t answered why you’re in my bedroom”

"Like I said I need my transfiguration book"

I roll my eyes. I found it amusing that she’d came in here looking for her goddamn transfiguration book, like mine was the only room she could go to. As she continues to look, my eyes roam her, noting how she looked today. Even when I hated her, I had to admit she was hot. She had her hair tied back into a messy bun, a few strands falling on her face, and she was wearing a fitted, dark green crop top, her bare stomach slightly visible as she looked through the mess that was my room. I quickly looked away, not wanting to be caught admiring her.  She was short, like really short. The top of her head was only up to my shoulder, and her legs were very very toned. Her curves were nice, and the look on her face as she looked around was a mix between determined and frustrated, which I had seen many times before.

"You know you could try and help me find it"

I roll my eyes, taking another drag from my cigarette before standing up and walking towards her. I stood behind her, and leaned against my bedframe, watching her with an amused look on my face ”And what makes you think I’d want to help you?”

"It would get me out of your room quicker"

She had a point. I would do anything to get her out of my room and away from me. Not that she bothered me, she just got me distracted and I didn’t like it. I let out a low sigh and start aimlessly looking around, my eyes scanning my room. I walk towards my desk, opening drawers and moving items around, looking for the transfiguration book that she was searching for. As I look around my desk, my eyes scan over papers and books.

My bed, which hadn’t been made from this morning. A pile of clothes that were thrown on the ground. My eyes caught on something, and I looked to the floor, narrowing my eyes as I spot something sticking out from under my bed. I crouch down, seeing the transfiguration textbook sticking out from the bottom of my bed. I grab it, and stand back up, holding the book out to her

”Here’s your damn transfiguration textbook”

"thank you" She takes it from my hand and walks out. I watch as she exits my room, still leaning against the bedframe. A part of me wanted her to stay, and for us to talk, not that I would ever admit it. I quickly push away the thoughts, and look back at my pack of cigarettes, needing another one.
