This feature is the script segment of the Magazine. Each issue, a scene adapted from a certain fan fiction will be displayed here. The scripts are adapted from writing by myself and the original author is credited.
This issue, the script is an adaption of the first three chapters of a Harry Potter Fan fiction by my great friend, Jamie Pevensie. My sincerest thanks to her for giving me permission to adapt this fantastic book. If you wish to read the actual fan fiction, click on the link to the first chapter here – I encourage you to read it as it really is an excellent story. However, please be aware this differs from the book in quite a few ways.
Also, please note there is a lot of direction included to try and give you a sense of the scene; however, if you are acting this out, it can be done any way you wish.

(Original Fan Fiction Written by Jamie Pevensie)
Opening: It is Morning. JADE is stood in the entrance hall of Eaglesclaw School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, trying to be unnoticed. JADE wears a hood over her face and shifts nervously as a group of students pass her, laughing and talking as they go. A few of them look at her, but most ignore her as they pass. JADE watches them go but as she is doing so, a voice comes from behind her.
JACK: Evening, Pevensie. (friendly)
JADE smiles shyly but says nothing, blushing.
JACK: (stopping briefly) Waiting for the first years?
JADE: Yes - I’m er, I’m a chaperone.
JACK: You’re a Grizzleheart, right?
JADE: Yes, erm yes , I am. (awkwardly)
JACK: House of the kind and selfless? (laughing slightly)
JADE: (blurting) And fierce. (looks embarrassed)
JACK: (grinning) Definitely.
There is a slight pause, then JADE speaks awkwardly.
JADE: You’re a, um, Merdock, aren’t you?
JACK: (smiling) Yeah. But don’t get me started on our house values - I could discuss them for hours.
JADE laughs breathlessly.
JADE: (awkwardly) Are you chaperoning too?
JACK: (nodding) Yup. I’m looking forward to it, though also a little wary that I might end up with a little monster. (he laughs and Jade laughs with him)
JADE: It’ll be fun, though. (quietly)
JACK: (looking at her) You nervous about managing a first year?
JADE: (smiling shyly) Slightly… like you, I just hope I don’t get an out-of-control, crazy eleven-year-ol-
Suddenly, a younger girl comes hurtling into the entrance hall carrying a suitcase. It is ALANA. The case falls open when she is halfway across the hall and strews items across it as she goes, but she continues to run. ALANA stops abruptly when she reaches JADE, looking nervously up at the older girl.
ALANA: (in a small voice) Are you Jade Pevensie?
JADE: (pausing, then speaking warmly) Yes. Hello.
ALANA: (holding out her hand) I’m Alana Wincastle. Professor Damask said you were my chaperone?
JADE: Oh – right. Okay. (looks around) Where are the rest of the first years?
ALANA: (chattering) They’re in the common room, I think. Although I’m not exactly sure because I wandered off to look at that portrait of Hamish McNulty the Third before we got there. Who knew someone could have a nose that size? It looked like a pickaxe. Anyway, by the time I’d stopped staring, they were gone, but the Professor had said you’d be here, so I came looking for you.
JADE: Well – it’s nice to meet you, Alana. (she shakes Alana’s hand).
JACK, who has been grinning at the scene, then addresses Jade.
JACK: Well, I’m gonna go look for my own first year. See you around..
JADE smiles as JACK walks away, but says nothing. ALANA watches this. However, JACK stops when he reaches the entrance to the Great Hall.
JACK: Oh and Pevensie?
JADE: (looking up, blushing) Yes? (said nervously)
JACK: (with a smile) Keep your hood off.
JADE watches him go and then, as he disappears out of sight, slowly reaches to pull her hood down. ALANA watches her face as she does so.
ALANA: Is he your boyfriend?
JADE: (snapping into gear) Um – no. No, he isn’t.
ALANA eyes her, but JADE quickly continues.
JADE: Anyway – I am your chaperone, Jade Pevensie. I am going to show you around the castle and help you get adjusted today.
ALANA: (grins) A guide? That’s more than I could hope for! Let’s go!
ALANA races ahead to the stairs and JADE follows warily as the scene ends.
Opening: It is the Afternoon. JADE is walking down a corridor on the way to class, ALANA running ahead as JADE struggles to keep up.
JADE: (panting) Alana – could you – possibly – slow down?
ALANA looks behind and stops to wait for JADE as they come to the landing and sets of stairs.
ALANA: Oh, Sorry. (she laughs) I’m just really excited - this school is so cool – there are awesome things everywhere! Like that, for instance! (she points) Awesome!
JADE: (looking where Alana is pointing) Alana, that’s a rat trap.
ALANA: Really? It’s still awesome. (she bends down to touch it)
JADE pulls her away from the trap.
JADE: (as she moves) Uh-uh, touching that is not advisable unless you want your finger in bandages.
ALANA: Awwww. Still, there’s so many cool things here! What should we do now?
JADE: (laughing) Well, let me see, - class?
ALANA: (makes a face) Class is boring. I know – let’s take the invisible staircase!
As she says the last sentence, ALANA rushes forward and steps off the landing just as JADE calls.
JADE: Alana, no!
Another first-year enters (WEST) as ALANA plunges down and watches this happen in horror. JADE rushes forward as ALANA falls, raising her wand and quickly shouting:
JADE: Suspendo Revocus!
ALANA freezes in mid air a few metres from the ledge and is then throw backwards to where she fell from, falling once she is there. JADE catches.
JADE: Oh my goodness. (she props Alana up and looks over the girl) Are you alright?
ALANA is looking slightly pale and shaken.
ALANA: You- you…you saved me. (slightly stunned)
JADE: Of course I did. I wouldn’t let you fall now, would I?
WEST comes forward and causes JADE and ALANA to turn round.
WEST: That was amazing! (slightly highpitched)
JADE: (smiling embarrassedly) Um – thank you.
ALANA: I know right! Did you see it happen?
WEST nods quickly.
WEST: It was awesome! (to Jade) You must be really good at Magic!
JADE: Erm, well-
A strict voice interrupts her from behind – it is PROFESSOR ALBATROSS, the Charms Professor.
ALBATROSS: Excuse me young ladies, why are you not in class?
JADE: I’m sorry Professor, we-
ALANA: (jumping up and towards him with an excited grin) I fell on the invisible staircase and I was going to die but then Jade saved me with MAGIC!
Beside ALANA, WEST is nodding to confirm it next whilst ALANA speaks.
ALBATROSS: (looking at Jade) Is this true, Pevensie?
JADE nods embarrassedly.
JADE: Yes, Professor.
ALBATROSS: What spell did you use?
JADE: (bowing her head, thinking she is to be punished) Suspendo Revocus, Professor.
ALBATROSS pauses, looks at ALANA and WEST, then smiles suddenly.
ALBATROSS: Ten points to Grizzleheart, Miss Pevensie, for excellent use of an advanced charm.
WEST and ALANA jump up and down in ecstatics and JADE looks up, surprised, and smiles.
ALBATROSS: (still smiling) Now, off you go to class.
The THREE GIRLS walk away and ALBATROSS watches them go before taking the staircase to the right down to the previous floor. It then flashes to JADE, ALANA and WEST.
WEST: (to Jade) I’m West, by the way. It’s so great to meet you! Alana told me all about you!
JADE: It’s great to meet you, West.
ALANA: (grinning) She’s a Lammasador. The house of the brave!
ALANA says her last sentence with flourish and throws her hat upwards.
JADE: (catching Alana’s hat and handing it back to her) Lammasador is a great house, West, congratulations! You’d better beware of us Grizzlehearts, though – we’ve been known to beat you frequently at Quidditch! (last line said with fun)
WEST: (sticking out her tongue at Jade) We’ll beat you this time, then!
ALANA: (sticking out her tongue at West) No you won’t – I’m going to be beater so there’s no way Lammasador defeat us.
JADE: (laughing) It’s Merdock you’ll have to worry about- they have a great team.
WEST: What about Snowbeak?
JADE: Well, as far as I know, their team is good but their tactics….not so much. Merdock are a threat because they have the best Keeper by far.
ALANA: Oh yeah, you told me about him – Jack Forest, wasn’t it? The one you were making goggle eyes at this morning?
JADE: (blushing) I was not.
ALANA: Yes you were. I don’t blame you, though – he’s hot.
ALANA: What? He is. You wouldn’t be making eyes at him if not.
JADE can’t help but laugh, giving up.
WEST: Is he the blonde one chaperoning Hayden?
WEST: Oh yeah, he is cute.
ALANA looks at JADE mischievously.
ALANA: You should ask him out.
JADE: (shocked) No no no. I am not asking Jack Forest out. (she remembers herself) Besides, I don’t even like him.
ALANA: Okay, we’ll just ask him out for you.
Their voices begin to fade as they walk further down the corridor.
JADE: Don’t you dare!
WEST: (joining in) We will - ooh, we can send him a-
JADE: Oh god, not you too..
ALANA: You’re right, West! We’ll send him a letter!
JADE: No no no no no, evil masterminds, if I catch you…
Their voices become unintelligible and the scene fades out.
