Family history
The Netherwood family is of Hungarian origin. They used to be known by the name: Éjvölgyy (pronounced: aey-veul-d'yee). A prestigious, mostly pure-blood wizarding family now residing in Great Britain. According to family lore, their ancestor, Botond of Éjvölgy, had been a promising táltos (basically a shaman) aiding the poor villagers by the Zala Hills up until the Christian rule was set in the Kingdom of Hungary. Based on an ancestral legend, he was also a descendant of the renowned táltos Göncöl.
In 1736, after centuries of hiding, the family fled to rural Wales, hoping to start a peaceful new life in the thriving wizarding community of Britain. After witchcraft was decriminalized in Hungary, Márk, one of the two Éjvölgyy brothers at the time, decided to move home with his wife and children, splitting the family into an ever-since strictly pure Hungarian, and a less conservative British branch. The latter changed its name to "Netherwood" to avoid association with the idealist relatives in Eastern Europe.
Aaron was born into the British branch that, despite living in the United Kingdom for centuries, preserved some of their Hungarian heritage by passing it down to the next generations. He was taught by his father how to read and write Old Hungarian Runic and was introduced to the basics of upheld táltos divination forms.
Upon receiving his letter, he started attending Hogwarts with hopes of living up to his family's name and his older sisters' legacy, who graduated from Hogwarts with straight O's and became respected members of the Ministry of Magic. Aaron has a deep interest in Herbology, Runes, and Charms; he is addicted to reading Muggle fantasy novels and cuddling with pets. On a sidenote, he is gay and therefore keeps a tense connection with his Hungarian relatives.
