The day I got my Hogwarts letter was both the most excited and anxious day in my life. Being muggle-born, my parents never talked about magic or anything non-muggle like. I still remember the day. I was sitting outside on the porch, reading a book while my younger sister, Cordelia, ran around the yard chasing the leafs falling off the trees. Suddenly, an owl with white fur dropped a letter with a wax seal into my hands and flew off. I tore open the envelope and read it. It was a letter accepting me to Hogwarts! I still have the letter. It says:

"HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Headmistress: Orion Oshiro
(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Witch, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Ms. Dawnmore,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Because of my muggle family, everyone was confused about my letter. Luckily, my Aunt Caroline is a half-blood witch. She took me shopping in Diagon Ally and even helped me onto the platform. I am currently in my first year and I was sorted into Gryffindor. I wish for a good year.
