📜 Lumos Letters 2025: Edition 1

written by Professor Laurel • November 2 2025 • Last Updated November 2 2025

2 November, 2025
The first "Lumos Letters" were flown starting the 1st of November. While the Activities Team staff anticipated a fair amount of participation from students, they were surprised to awaken the very next day to an Owlery of busy owls, flying in and out as they delivered a variety of appreciation letters from students (and even a poltergeist and a Ministry employee!). Below, please enjoy the first edition of our "Lumos Letters", each lighting a little Lumos into someone’s life.

To Namikah Hunt.
---------------------------
My dearest, Namikah:

Words cannot express how grateful the Ravenclaw third-year students are to share a dorm with you. Thank you for cleaning up the mess in the room after the first-years made a mess with the decorations in Halloween.

The future is waiting to see you succeed as an attorney. I will make sure to send you an owl if anything unfortunate happens over the autumn break. I'm sure one "Actually, your honor..." will be enough to send the judge on call into a spiral of neverending confusion. Meanwhile, We promise to actually watch Hamilton like you told us to before we see you again for the summer break.

XOXO,

Your dormmates. Just kidding! ∼MBS∼

To the Hoggywarts Flyers! Evony Senoj, Elizabeth Schulte, Graham Townsend, Lexie, Tessa Malfoy, Beezer Vablatsky.

It has been an honor growing and working with you guys. Bringing our team to be the best group this site has seen. To every high and low of site engagement, and hours in the queues! Never let the AI get you down.

From your HS, Jean V. Ollivander

To Professor Lavinia Laurel.

Thank you for being one of the brightest spots of HiH. It is an honor to work with you as a Lumos Legend, and I hope to be half as amazing as you if I ever get there. I treasure everything I've learned from you.

From Jean V. Ollivander

To Professor Robert Plumb

As my Head of House, and Professor for one of the most underrated courses, thank you for being so inspiring. And the work/fun you continue to do with the House Point Competition is greatly appreciated. Keep shining!

Jean V. Ollivander

Dear Professor Aspen,

Thank you for helping me "grow" in my Herbology studies. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in your class so far, and I can't wait to continue with Year Five! It has been a pleasure grading for younger years of the course as a PA and Head Student.

- Sienna Dixon

Dear Professor Draekon,

I apologize for the mishap on the day of your birthday. I planned to gift you a new brass cauldron, but the muggle shipping company wasn't able to find the address for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I don't really have many galleons under my name anyway, so who knows what joke of a cauldron would have arrived at your lab.

I hope not many billywig eggs exploded on Halloween! Thank you for all you do, and please do not fail me when my fifth-year Potions homework starts coming in (though I won't complain if you do). I'm sure my fellow students share the sentiment. And also, keep having that awesome hair!

Best wishes,

Mario Soriano

To Jean V. Ollivander
------------------------------------------
Dear Jean,

It has come to our attention that, since you started in your position as a Head Girl for the subject of Flying, you have been giving a few first-year students unlimited access to very advanced brooms. Please remember that not everyone is not as talented a flyer than you are. I would like my young son to come back safe home!

Signed,

Mrs. Soriano. Kidding! Love, Mario <3

To the HiH Activities Team,

You guys are on a roll with these fun and engaging activities for students and PA's. We can see so much work and love you give to the site and it is appreciated. I can't wait to see what you guys have in store for the future!

P.S. Even if you don't post this for the thread, I hope you guys still feel appreciated. You all have brought a special kind of magic to the site.

Anonymous <3

To Madam Eira Fox!

Thank you for being the best Professor to work with. I have a special respect for you, being the first Professor to hire me as a PA, and then mentor me as a Head Student. I take everything you've taught me with me in life. It is a joy to work with you, and I am proud to be a part of your team!

From HS Jean V. Ollivander

To Evony Senoj,

I know I've said it before, but thank you for being my first friend back to the site. Getting into the site (even with ample time to take lessons with) can be hard, but having a friend can make all the difference. You have helped me get accepted into the PA roles I have, and I will always be thankful! I hope I can do even half of what you've achieve on the site (hard shoes to fill after your FOUR YEARS!). Please keep being amazing.

From Jean

P.S. As I type this you've reacted to my Discord post about spamming the forms for everyone I know XD

Dear Professor Laurel,

We are very glad to inform you that our inspection has gone very well. Your classroom is a place where all the student feel appreciated, entertained and educated. A few months ago, we had been informed that Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry had been the host of some strange occurrences, such as objects flying out the window and remembralls scattered around the castle.

However, we were very satisfied with everything we found in the school, and Headmistress Oshiro referred me to you when I asked who had been in charge of putting up such a wonderful array of Halloween decorations in the Room of Requirement. Congratulations on making the school feel even more alive than it already is. The Ministry of Magic wishes you the best of luck while you embark on travels to the farthest of places while finding valuable knowledge to pass onto your seventh-year students.

Miranda Grubblehawk

Ministry of Magic, Head of the Department of Magical Education

This letter is to all the volunteers and teachers(and workers/headmistresses!) -
Thank you so much for volunteering your time so us students can have a feel of Hogwarts right in our home(because, unfortunately, I don't think it's real). I am so glad I found this website and it has been super fun. I am grateful for the time you put in to make this a good experience and it makes me want to be a real wizard and in the time of Harry Potter! My assignments have been graded faster than expected, so thank you for that too. Keep up the awesome work on this website! I have recommended it to several other people too!
~Elysia Starlight, Hufflepuff

To Evelissa Blackwater:
-----------------------------------------------

My beautiful Evelissa,

You are worth everything that this world has to offer, and more still. Anyone to ever meet you will get to feel what it is like to cross paths with someone as special as a thestral in the moonlight. Your kindness is not weakness, but grace, covered in your elegant perfume of powdered bicorn horn. Wherever you go, you bring the security that life is bright ahead, the promise that better things are near, and that is certainly no small gift.

Do not let the disturbance of bitter noise make you doubt the clear sound that you own. Those who have seen you, and who have gotten to admire you, appreciate you and adore you, will know they've met someone as extraordinary as a newborn's cry in a silent hospital room. Remember that, if you look at the world from up above and think that it is unworthy of you, it most likely is; so fill your heart with what's important and be done with all the rest.

~Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it~

With unwavering faith in you,

Tom Marvolo Riddle
